Unique Research - The Strong Get Stronger

Updated: Sep 1, 2021

This is a good one. The animation shows the dramatic growth and changes in brand value from 2000 to 2018. Apple, Google and Amazon skyrocketed to the top of the list in only a few years.

NS Capital Investment Committee

Google enters the chart in 2008, Apple in 2011. By 2013 Apple is #1 and Google is #2. Amazon enters the race in 2014 and rockets to #3 by the end of 2018. Facebook was nowhere to be seen, but we are willing to bet it is in the top 5 today.

These companies are 3 of the 4 FANG companies which dominated the investment landscape for much of the last decade. Today they are not only the leading brands, but they are also the largest companies in the world. From a size standpoint Apple is #2 in the S&P 500 index, Amazon is #3, Google is #4 and Facebook is #5. Microsoft is currently #1.

In terms of value these 5 companies represent nearly 20% of the total worth of all the combined companies that make up the S&P 500.

The strong are getting stronger.
